A traditional christening ceremony in church is a great way to welcome a new baby into the family of God. Everyone comes together, bring gifts and generally have a good time.
Some parents are not religious, or feel that they don’t want to make the decision on behalf of the baby and would prefer to wait until it can make its own decision.
I offer semi religious and non-religious naming ceremonies as a way to really celebrate the gift of life and to introduce your child to everyone who will play a role in its upbringing.
Just as you would with a church ceremony you can choose Godparents or sponsors who will be significant in the child’s life.
Tradition is that there are three sponsors two of the same gender and one of the opposite but really there is no “official” number.
As part of the ceremony parents and sponsors make promises to help the child grow into the best person they can be.
